Silver Strand Beach & Hollywood By The Sea
Silver Strand Beach is well-known for its incredible surf, children’s beach, pathway leading from Hobie Beach along the Channel Islands Harbor entrance to the beach, its sea lions, and its relaxed lifestyle. There are approximately 1500 homes in the greater Silver Strand area, including both Silver Strand and Hollywood By The Sea. Single-family homes, as well as duplexes, make up the residential offerings. There are no condo developments. Oceanfront homes in Silver Strand are all on Ocean Drive. The homes across the street from the sand on Ocean Drive are referred to by locals as “inboard Ocean,” and many of these have fantastic beach, ocean, and island views. On San Nicholas Avenue, there are 10 homes with unobstructed water views as they are located across the street from the harbor entrance.
Adjacent to Silver Strand Beach and its community of homes is a small residential area referred to as Hollywood By The Sea. These are eight blocks bordered by Victoria Avenue or Roosevelt Boulevard to the West and Panama Drive to the East. Several homes throughout the Silver Strand and Hollywood By The Sea communities offer views based on their locations, window placement, and presence of roof decks. A handful of locally-owned restaurants, take-out counters, and specialty shops can be found in Silver Strand, and the beach is also the site of summer junior lifeguard training camp and privately-run surf camps.
Silver Strand Beach is unincorporated in Ventura County. Geographically, Silver Strand is located in Oxnard. Municipally speaking, however, it is governed by the County of Ventura, not the City of Oxnard. According to data from the Channel Islands Beach Community Services District, Silver Strand Beach and Hollywood By The Sea have a combined population of about 3,300 people.
